Turning Stone Resort Championship

3rd Aug 2010

Latest Result Image

I am flying out today to Turning Stone Resort for this weeks event. It has been a very tough year to date but I am not giving up and will always try and push ahead. Onwards and upwards as they say. I feel there is nothing wrong with my game, it has been a struggle to score, large numbers on certain holes have cost me momentum and cuts. Perhaps I have been too agressive at times but that has always been my game. Aggressive play and lack of confidence is never a good mix. But I still remain faithful to the game I love and of course to my family and close friends that have remained supportive of me at this time. You know who you are .... nothing ever stays the same and this rough patch will shift and no doubt I will be a better player for it. Daniel

Sony Open

16th Jan 2008

I was somewhat fatigued and my mind was still in excitement mode - can you blame me! I played okay, I couldn't really get anything going in the final round, I really struggled to hit fairways in the wind. My first round of 4 under was definitely the best, I hit all 18 greens which I hadn't done since the first round of the BC Open in 2004.
Next week is Bob Hope, my caddy Mitch needed a week off so 'Bambi' has stepped in. I am looking forward to catching up with my sponsor Ric and Suzanne Kayne who have an awesome pad in the dessert. I know we will have a great time off the course, lets hope we all play great golf too. Daniel

Great Start to the 2008!

16th Jan 2008

I guess you can say it was a dream start to the year,. I am the Mercedes Benz Champion for 2008. The good news is, I really want to keep it going. I enjoyed my week so much in Maui, the scenery was spectacular, the island atmosphere was relaxed and fun, AND that was the exact way I played during the week. My game matched the vibe.
I putted great, drove the ball well ... often people think to win you need to play perfect golf. That is just not true. I had one lost ball, missed a few fairways and missed a couple of makable putts but I grinded and kept going. Gary Planos and his team really put on a stellar event. I can't wait to get back there in 2009.

NZ Open

6th Dec 2007

What a spectacular place - New Zeland always astounds me with it's incredible landscape, this week in Queentown with views that are almost unreal it was just like a movie, hard to believe that such natural beauty exists! We were in awe on a daily basis.
It was great to see Cambo in his national event and my long time friend from the crazy days of the Asian Tour, Tony Christie, who by the way had a great tourney - well done mate! The crowds were tremendous, although I found the course young and filled with ares of Tussock grass which really didn't make sense, since I was in it for most of my final round! It was a good NZ Open. I think the course, especially it's greeens need to age a bit in order to let it's true potential come out.
Hodgey, Sam and I enjoyed some great restaurants, wines and the local Kiwis' who really made me feel welcome. It was a great time and experience even though my last round was not the best.

Mastercard Masters

6th Dec 2007

It was an interesting week. Huntingdale is a course I have always struggled to play well on simply becasue it feels too tight off the tee for my game. I enjoy using my driver and because of my length find that Huntingdale tries to pull me back. That is also a sign of a great golf course. One that forces you to work the ball with all your clubs.
I went into the week happy with my game and realized after a decent finish in Hong Kong I was looking forward to playing again. My mate Hodgey was caddying for me again, Sam was meeting up with us in Melbourne so it was all good. To be honest I felt I didn't play great golf but I managed to hole a few long putts and work the ball around. On a course that doesn't really suit my game I was happy with the result. Considering I was 3 over after 5 holes on friday and even par for the tournament, I was happy with my comeback by Sunday night. It could have been anyone's. I did hit a good putt in the play off, I just couldn't get my ball to rest nicely for that final putt, it was stuck in a hole which then bobbled out on me ... but hey that's golf. It was agreat win for Badd's he grew up playing Huntingdale and we had a great time in the playoff.

UBS Hong Kong Open

18th Nov 2007

Fanling is a great course.. I felt my game was in great shape, perhaps I played better than I scored but I'm content, not happy, with my finish. I drained a 20 footer at the last for par which kept me in the top ten. My mate Hodgey who was caddying this week was even more grateful for the putt! Last year I came across the biggest snake I had ever seen, no snake this year but I still have courses in Australia and New Zeland to play!

Pembroke's
