Big thankyou to sponsors ahead of US Open
June 12th, 2017 by Samantha Chopra
June 12: It has been five years since Daniel last competed in a Major and ahead of his appearance in this week’s US Open he would like to say thank you to all his sponsors for supporting him for so many years.
“I am really excited to be here at Erin Hills this week and I would like to say thanks to everyone who has helped me get back to this point,” said Daniel.
“In particular, I would like to thank Mr Richard Kayne at Kayne Capital, Mr Pawan Munjal at Hero Motocorp and Mr Solheim at Ping. In addition my thanks to FootJoy and Titleist.”
This week will mark his third appearance in the US Open after he claimed a three-shot victory at Sectional Qualifying held at Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey last week.
After carding a four-under-par 66 at the par-70 South Course in the morning, Daniel fired eight birdies against a bogey to sign for a seven-under-par 65 at the par-72 North Course, topping the leaderboard with a winning total of 11-under-par 131.
“I felt really good about my game coming in here, and I felt like it would be a good opportunity if I played well and kept my head on my shoulders. If I played solid golf, I knew I would have a great chance,” he said after his win.
He tied-24th when he made his debut appearance in the U.S. Open in 2004 and he finished tied-36th in his second appearance in 2008.
