Positives from Day One

June 15th, 2017 by Samantha Chopra

June 15: Daniel came so close to recording a fine comeback round on the opening day of the US Open but eventually signed for a five-over-par 77.

He finished the day in a tie for 131st place at Erin Hills, in what is the third appearance of his career in the US Open.

However, he will take many positives away from the day.

He began his round on the 10th and got off to a poor start with bogeys on 10, 11 and 15.

Daniel then rallied brilliantly with birdies on the 18th, second and third to get back on track.

Sadly, he then dropped five shots over the closing six holes – including a double-bogey on the par-three ninth.

American Rickie Fowler finished as the first-round leader with an opening seven-under-par 65.

Daniel tees-off at 12.30 in Friday’s second round.
